Jock Itch
Jock Itch is the popular name given to skin infections caused by fungus called tinea cruris or groin ringworm. The symptoms vary from one person to another but it typically appears as a round lesion witha scaly boarder. This itchy rash occurs in the groin area and most commonly involves the inner thighs and adjacent skin, including the scrotum in males. The medical name for this condition is "Intertrigo." Jock Itch is associated with sweating, friction/abrasion. The rash may affect the groin, any areas of the skin that overlap. Jock Itch affects men and women.
Causes:
Heat, humidity, tight clothing, friction, damp skin folds or excessive sweating.
Treatment:
Gently clean the affected areas, lightly blot away all moisture, generously apply a layer of Blue Star Ointment and then cover with loose fitting clothing. Because some skin is more sensitive than others, you can suspend the formula by adding 1 part petroleum jelly to 1 part Blue Star Ointment and then apply to affected areas.
